In high school and college, students should start being financially responsible for themselves and saving money. You’re not expected to be completely financially independent, but you should at least be able to pay for fun summer activities yourself and feel good about being able to do so. And making and saving money means finding a job either during the school year or the summer!

- Plant nurseries
- Babysitting (allows you to set your own pay rate)
- Camp counselor
- Local pool (lifeguard, pool cleaner, front desk clerk)
- Tutoring (online or in person)
- Dog walker (allows you to set your own pay rate)
- House sitter (allows you to set your own pay rate)
- Uber Eats/DoorDash/Grubhub delivery driver (must be of a certain age and have a driver’s license)
- Internships

The best thing about a lot of these opportunities is they leave a lot of room to do more than one thing; for example, you could babysit for kids in your neighborhood on Wednesdays and Fridays and spend your Sundays walking dogs. If you’re creative and do some research online, you can find plenty of ways to make some summer cash.
